Vacancies

Volunteering opportunities at MSTC Lothian come up all the time whether on an on-going basis or for specific events throughout the year. If you don’t see an opportunity which interests you here, please get in touch anyway as you never know what might be coming up. We have roles to suit people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

This is a lively, ever-changing workplace where you will get the chance to meet people from all walks of life, put some of your skills to use or maybe even learn some new ones. No matter how you give your time, you can be sure that the work you do will directly contribute to improving the quality of life of people with MS.

We want you to get the most out of your volunteering experience so we do everything we can to make sure you are well supported throughout your time with us. We have our own in-house training programme and will do what we can to help you access external training too. We run regular volunteer support sessions where you can receive further coaching and get to know other volunteers. We have also been given the Investors in Volunteers award, which we are very proud of!

The Centre is fully wheelchair accessible. There are good public transport links and free parking. Travel expenses will be refunded.

Volunteer Receptionist

Minute Secretary

(1 volunteer needed)

The purpose of the role is to assist the Management Committee of the Centre by preparing papers for and taking minutes at meetings throughout the year.

There are six committee meetings per year which take place every two months, usually commencing at 6pm on a Wednesday. In addition to this, there is one Annual General Meeting, and there may be one or two extra meetings if required.

There are two parts to the role:
1) the Minute Secretary coordinates the preparation of the agenda and any other relevant papers approximately two - three weeks prior to each meeting. He or she communicates directly with Chairperson and other committee members as required. The documents are emailed to the Centre when ready for staff to print and distribute.
2) The Minute Secretary will then attend the meeting and take minutes, and distribute these after the meeting.

Meetings are currently held in the Centre, though alternative Edinburgh-based venues are being sought. Travel expenses are available.
